FluxBB Alternatives and Forks

I'm a heavy fan of FluxBB 1.x branch, but it looks like things will change with 2.0 called Flarum. Millenials will be very happy with Flarum but lot of ninja users and webmasters... not.

So I would like to ask (or discuss) with the community which alternatives we have, to find something "similar" to 1.x branch. Does anyone know any more?

Forks:

- VismanBB (fluxbb fork) | github.com/MioVisman/FluxBB_by_Visman
- FeatherBB (fluxbb fork) | featherbb.org
- Panther (fluxbb fork) | get-aura.org

Alternatives:

- PunBB (alternative) | punbb.informer.com
- PannBB (alternative) | punbb.info/t-1040.html
- MiniBB (alternative) | minibb.com
- MyBB (alternative) | mybb.com

Re: FluxBB Alternatives and Forks

I would hardly call Flarum "FluxBB 2.0", it just happened to be developer by someone who also worked on FluxBB.

Anyways... there is also Luna

Re: FluxBB Alternatives and Forks

I still think that FluxBB will not be abandoned entirely. Development may slow down and perhaps come to an end but I do feel that the community should remain open to support those that do still intend to use the software.

We may all just have to wait and see what Franz inevitably decides to do.

Re: FluxBB Alternatives and Forks

I saw this conversation on Twitter:

@SamGuichelaar (20:40 - 5 jun. 2018)
Is Fluxbb going to get an update ever? I miss using it

@franzliedke (5 jun. 2018)
That's nice to hear. I pushed a bunch of commits that had been lying around this weekend, hope to finish the next release soon. The focus is on Flarum and my growing family at the moment. Feel free to get in touch if you want to help out. smile

@SamGuichelaar (5 jun. 2018)
Awesome, I’ll check it out!

So, maybe after 3 years we have a Fluxbb update ^^

Re: FluxBB Alternatives and Forks

In alternatives you can add Vanilla Forums, who have a migration tool wich is compatible with FluxBB databases.
hxxp://open.vanillaforums.com <= Open source version (wich isn't really different from the "premium hosted" one)

I used FluxBB in the past but I wasn't on this community forum.

In options you could upload Vanilla boards, who've a migration tool wich is well matched with FluxBB databases.
hxxp://open.vanillaforums.com <= Open supply version (wich isn't without a doubt exclusive from the "premium hosted

A site that praises a Forum and where you can't even see a single demo page of that forum, for me it's direct trash.
