Giving moderators additional privileges

My administrator and I are trying to set the forum where I can change the status of registered users. He has all the settings set but it still does not give me the option to upgrade a user.

Re: Giving moderators additional privileges

Are you an admin or moderator?
If you are a moderator, make sure the admin has this option turned on for moderators in usergroups: Allow moderators to promote users

Re: Giving moderators additional privileges

Hello Shogun and Mark,

Hey Shogun thank you for reaching out on Fluxbb to find answer. Yes I would like to give my moderator more admin privileges, like being able to promote a registered user to a specific groups we have established. Unfortunately even giving my moderator ALL privileges he can't PROMOTE users.

Is there a FIX or MOD that will give my MODERATORS more admin privileges.

Thank you,

Hector

Re: Giving moderators additional privileges

Just been having a look at this.
It does look like there is an error in the code somewhere.
Tried it on my localhost and it does not allow me to change group as a moderator.
Changing the code so the box shows up, get no permission.
It appears that when this was put in the groups options, it wasn't implemented into the profile page hmm

Re: Giving moderators additional privileges

We're still working on it. Can't get it to work right.
We decided to take a break and come back to it later.

Re: Giving moderators additional privileges

I think there is a misunderstanding here.

The "Allow moderators to promote users" setting allows moderators to promote users directly next to their posts. This is not about changing the user group on the user profile's "Administration" section. "Promote" refers to the auto-promotion feature that can be configured for each group) - this automatically promotes a user to another user group (usually with more permissions, e.g. to post links) after they have made a certain number of posts. The permission allows moderators to short-circuit this process, e.g. to promote an obviously legitimate user before they have made a certain number of posts. I sometimes do this on these forums. smile

The feature and the permission were added in FluxBB 1.5.8.

EDIT: That said, feel free to send a pull request that improves the help text for the permission so that this becomes more clear. smile

Re: Giving moderators additional privileges

Ok and thank you for clearing up the confusion.

Well as of yet the forum has NOT gone public, we're still using another parties forum which has ALL these rights. The forum we're working on will have multiple groups, IE, War Thunder, Battlefield 2, Battlefield 4 and other game genres, which I'll need help promoting appropriate user to the right group.

So with that said, is there anything or way this can be fixed/updated so I can give my moderators this permission. Or is their a fix/tweak/mod where I can give limited admin permission to have this right.

Thank you,

Re: Giving moderators additional privileges

This is not currently possible, I'm afraid.
