Welcome to FluxBB
Hello and welcome,
As you probably already know FluxBB is a new project based on PunBB, Neal (Smartys), Paul, Kristoffer (Jansson) and I (Connor) are behind it, feel free to ask any questions

Was this based on the latest development? (the domain switch)

Re: Welcome to FluxBB

Sort of, I think the main reason is the shift of power, Rickard has stepped down at least for now, and the new owners of PunBB have started exerting their control (yes the domain change was one of these things), and we felt we wanted to be in control of the project we are working on.

That said is future development of PunBB at a stand still?

Development by us, yes, there are employees of the new owner working on PunBB though, we don't know what they will do.

Re: Welcome to FluxBB

That was the straw that broke the camel's back, so to speak.
It was not the first issue that we (the developers) disagreed with the new owners over. However, in the past we always ended up working out a compromise. In this case, however, there was no compromise to be reached.
In general though, as Connor said, it was also about getting rid of the feeling that we had little to no control over the project that we were developing for.
That said is future development of PunBB at a stand still?
We will not be developing further for PunBB.org: however, we will be releasing a rebranded/updated version of 1.2 for people to use and we will provide support for the 1.2 branch of PunBB and FluxBB.
However, as Connor pointed out, the owners are a commercial entity that has programmers. They may very well choose to assign some programmers to maintaining the project.

They have the strength here... Sucking up to smartys again...
Good luck and will be converting myself... So hope my contribution can help.
Will you release a patch/hdiff from 1.2 to fluxbb 1.2?

Re: Welcome to FluxBB
Hi Connor and fellow defectors,
Glad I skipped the whole takeover scene, hope Rickard is doing fine.
It's been awhile since I played with 1.3 code, it's looking good, fast as always.

Re: Welcome to FluxBB
Hi Bert,
That was my original idea for a logo but I have a feeling Mercedes might have something to say about it.
My next idea was something based on <=> (less is more).

The Mercedes logo is inverted and is inside a circle.

Maybe that will convince Paul of putting pictures of naked women on the Fluxx's homepage.

Funny cartoon, then we can have In Utero playing in the background when someone visits the main site.

Re: Welcome to FluxBB

FluxBB isn't a bad name, I would buy up fluxbb.net also, to go with .com and .org, that's if the name sticks.
Flux brings back memories for me, it's the name of the Linux user's group I attended in Florida. Maybe Adam Glass would sell you Flux.org, now that would be nice, seeing as Flux.com is a big .Net social community project.
As for another name, now that's tough these days, with most good domain names taken.

Re: Welcome to FluxBB
Flux supposedly = Fast, Light, User friendly, eXtensible.
Actually = we couldn't think of anything better with an available domain.
