Re: Official converter - testing

Really? I thought that converter should support same PHP versions as FluxBB.

Re: Official converter - testing

Ah well, true. I guess for v1.4 it would make sense. Is it simple to do?

Re: Official converter - testing

As far as I know, the only thing that needs to be changed is var instead of public/protected/private and class_name() instead of __construct(). I need to setup a PHP 4 installation first (but can't get it working tongue )

I created a ticket and then fixed above error. When user with similar username is found (for example: töma), the number is added at the end of username (töma1). When converter fihishes, it allows you to notify users about username change by email.

Thanks for this. I'll test today it.

Re: Official converter - testing

For now, using the old converter (that I just updated today for FluxBB 1.5) is still planned for my site, but maybe later I'll work for a ConnectixBoards converter for the official one.  I'm currently learning object-oriented programing for less than a month.

Re: Official converter - testing

You can use FluxBB update script (update.php) to convert database from PunBB 1.3/1.4

Try to convert to 1.4 first, and then update to the latest.

1.4.10? You can't convert to 1.5.x, you need to convert to 1.4 and then upgrade to 1.5.x, we haven't fixed the converter yet.

Re: Official converter - testing

Make a backup from SMF2 to FluxBB again. But this time to FluxBB 1.4. Then update to the latest Flux version (1.5.3).

Re: Official converter - testing

I made a backup of both databases before converting. I ended up screwing up IDs a little when some error popped up halfway through when merging the two, but everything works great now. Worst case scenario, you have to use the backups. I wouldn't do this on a live installation, though. Test it somewhere else then copy everything over.

Re: Official converter - testing

When I try to convert my big board from phpbb3 to FBB 1.5.6 it gives me this error :

File: /home/user/public_html/include/fluxbb.class.php
Line: 227

FluxBB reported: Unable to insert values

Database reported: Duplicate entry '1567028' for key 'PRIMARY' (Errno: 1062)

But I remember poor little JonBenet was murdered 10 years ago and we still don\'t know who is responsible for her death!', '259635')

Any ideas ?

Great to see you converting to FluxBB, TigerAero!

Franz or one of the more code-savvy users will be able to assist as soon as they see this. I appreciate your patience in the meantime.

Ahhh, shoot. Heh. Even though the converter requires input of both database names and such....

Ok I put them in the database and did the mentioned database "update" after it was finished and now I'm in an endless loop from /bb/index.php to /bb/db_update.php

Update List:

  • I go to /bb (without index.php) and it redirects me to bb/db_update.php with the error: "An error was encountered. Error: Your forum is already as up-to-date as this script can make it." otherwise bb/index.php redirects to /bb/install.php which tells me with a link, "It seems like FluxBB is already installed. You should go here instead." Another endless loop lol.

  • I went to bb/admin_index.php only to find all my customizations on the board are gone. Heavy sigh. My id of 1 is now Guest account and my admin got pushed to id 8885 group ID 1.

  • "Info This account has already requested a password reset in the past hour. Please wait 58 minutes before requesting a new password again." Since I didn't have the SMTP info all entered in correctly when I tried to send a password reset it failed. I realized this software uses SMTP instead of php mail so ... I put in the correct stuff. Now I get this message.

  • So mad now lol. I managed to get a new password on my admin account and now I'm redirected back to http://www.tftemple.com/bb/db_update.php from http://www.tftemple.com/bb/index.php

  • I'm successfully able to enter in now through my /bb/admin_index.php but still not /bb/index.php

  • I click the "Maintenance" link in the admin section and I'm redirected back to /bb/db_update.php. That's the last I'm going to try to mess with it. I have no idea now.

Re: Official converter - testing

Damnit all. I just did a fresh install. Fresh convert. I'm right back at the index.php to db_update loop. And imagine that I just lost all my settings again.

http://www.tftemple.com/flux

An error was encountered
Error: Your forum is already as up-to-date as this script can make it.

I'll  leave it in your hands at this point. I'm flustered and did I think about all I can do to figure it out?

UPDATE: Due to no response in 24 hours since I first started these replies I'm back at it again...lol. I managed to get into the admin menu and only a handful of topics and no forums or categories made it over. Nothing displaying but the topics themselves show in the DB.
