Style competition entries
As promised, below are the style competition entries which we received. We are posting these to get feedback from the community, and also so the styles are available for anyone wishing to use them. Within the coming week we will aim to announce a winner.
Please note that the downloads provided are as we received the entries. We have not done any tidying up of them or checked the validity of the code.
The entries are ordered in that which they were received.

Technetium is the best.
But untitled seems also simple and small (Like the old oxygen)

Air is already included in 1.4, well the SVN version, and will be in RC2 (coming after we have chosen a winner for this) and the final release.

If I understood properly, all styles will be available in 1.4, right?
We're just voting for default style, right?
So, why can't Air be voted for default style too?
Not that I'd choose Air, but it just doesn't sound fair.
My vote goes out to Technetium, even if Air was available for voting purposes.
I would love to see Technetium in several colors, it would be a killer.
Cheers

Re: Style competition entries
No, the voting is for which ones will be included in 1.4, Air will be the default, that is already decided.

Technetium looks nice. But still not as beautiful as Air :-)

The announcement never said anything about it being for a default? It says in bold that the best would be shipped with 1.4 and have a cash prize, but doesn't say a word about being the default, if you thought otherwise I'm sorry

Okay then, but being shipped with it is just as good.
One thing good about Technetium is that it was influenced by things the default themes of other major forum scripts are doing, its easily adaptable to different color schemes.
If this wins, maybe you could think about making all of the "classic" color styles variants of it.

That's a good idea. I did like the 6 standard colours that PunBB came with.

It would also be easy though, I used transparent PNG's instead of flat images, that would be quite easy to do.

Re: Style competition entries
Fixed size width isn't good for an official skin. It's a bitch to adapt to fluid design if needed to (the opposite is, on the other hand, done in 2 seconds), and won't work well at all on various UA (from handheld device to over 1900 pixel wide modern screens).
On Technetium, the post's body text could use a slightly larger line-height.

That can be fixed easily. I just made it fixed width so I could manage it easier on my widescreen monitor. Right now I only use a 1024x768.

Re: Style competition entries
I don't think there should be many variants including in the package. Just include original ones, and let people download variants on the website.
