Unfortunately no one can be told what FluxBB is - you have to see it for yourself.

new user - Favicon for my site

I have just started using FluxBB 1.4 and wanted to know if I added a Favicon to my site, where to put the link code?

I am assuming that main.tpl etc would be the correct place.

A pointer to the right file if its not would be appreciated.

Re: new user - Favicon for my site

The main.tpl is the correct place. If you want the favicon to be displayed on all pages, you have to edit the other templates, too (like for help etc.).

A simpler way to add a favicon to all pages is to edit header.php (around line 125). That would not work for the redirect function, though.

-->Simplest way would be to edit redirect.tpl and header.php.

Re: new user - Favicon for my site

Thankyou

Will have a look at the header.php file.  Although I'm comfortable mooching around the technical stuff, it has to be obvious to me if I change things about!

Just another line like the one with the JavaScript stuff. Something like this:

echo 'favicon stuff here';

Ah, was just about to post the following:

    echo '<link rel="shortcut icon" href="../../img/custom/favicon.ico">';

and ask if this was correct.

Re: new user - Favicon for my site

That it is. Isn't there something you have to add for it to work completely in IE?

Re: new user - Favicon for my site

The german Wikipedia wrote:

<link rel="shortcut icon" href="http://example.de/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon">
<link rel="icon" href="http://example.de/favicon.ico" type="image/x-icon">

If you use XHTML instead of HTML, you should use a closing slash at the end of the tag, since this is an empty element.

Usually you only need the first <link> element. The second one is necessary, when other formats than ico are used. Important is that both elements are inside the <head> tag and that the codes for <link type> are set correctly:

    * For ICO: "image/x-icon" oder "image/vnd.microsoft.icon"
    * For GIF: "image/gif"
    * For PNG: "image/png"

Hmmm... looks like that's what I meant. You can take a look at the source code of this board, too.

Re: new user - Favicon for my site

i dont think you still need to edit the main.tpl to be able to add favicon just place it in the main directory..
