Ticket #448 (fixed bug)
E-mail encoding bug when using local mailer

- Component: email
- Priority: normal
FluxBB wrongly encodes e-mails when opting to use a local mailer.
I'm using FluxBB (1.4.5) and have opted to use a local mail program for forum emails. As you mentioned in a forum post, FluxBB uses the PHP mailer if one is not specified in the forums Administration panel. So, I'm using PHP (5.3.4) and in my PHP config file (php.ini) I've set the mailing function to use the sendmail program. It's configured to use my Gmail account like so:
sendmail_path = /usr/sbin/sendmail -t -i
The sendmail program is system linked to the real mailer:
sendmail -> /usr/bin/mailx*
The mailx package that is installed is this one here:
So, I have a website that uses the PHP mailing function and the files that are sent are fine. However, the the mail being sent from FluxBB is "garbled". This is what it looks like, as seen from Gmail's web client and from my desktop e-mail client:
From: <snipped>@gmail.com <snipped> Mailer To: <snipped>@gmail.com Date: Wed, 18 May 2011 20:05:25 -0700 Subject: =?UTF-8?B?V2VsY29tZSB0byBTeW1waG9ueSBmb3IgdGhlIGlQaG9uZSBhbmQgaVBhZCE=?= The body of the e-mail is sent as an attachment, a binary file titled noname: Thank you for registering in the forums at <snipped>.
