Re: We need a style contest

Third party styles will be available for download from this site along with any style packs which I might do. Since people will be able to download additional styles with ease at the same time they download the sofware I'm not sure what the advantage is in including additional styles in the forum package.

Good idea. Waiting for the contest and the moment of downloading.  big_smile

Re: We need a style contest

Why should additional styles be included in FluxBB? I can't even find one reason that speaks for more styles in the FluxBB download..

Keep in mind: FLUX (Lightweight)
The idea behind FluxBB is a lightweight and extensible forum, so why should the download package be bulked up with styles?

Re: We need a style contest

I kinda agree with damaxxed, I don't see the need for multiple styles. In punBB, they are just color variations which can be easily reproduced from any of them.

Re: We need a style contest

that's just why there should be different ones... not just color variations

Re: We need a style contest

I want to see as many styles as possible preferably not based on the existing stylesheets but built from scratch and not plain and simple either.

What I don't see is any need to include further styles with the download package when users will be able to download all the styles from this site.

Re: We need a style contest

Maybe a styles column at the frontpage of the FluxBB site that shows some random styles? ^^

A style switcher for the most recently added styles might be an idea too.

Re: We need a style contest

I have a question... If I work on a style now, it will work with the final version with new markup ?

That makes no sence to me?

Phase 3 : When Phase 2 is completed commit the changes to svn. This will be the last global update. The markup scheme is essentially frozen at this point but there could be detailed changes.

Phase 6 : Sort out a least one decent quality stylesheet.

All that still needs to be done! so yes anywork you do now will be useless.

What doesn't make sense about it? People will be able to download user developed styles in the same way that they will be able download extensions.

No I understand that.

It was how he put it, Paul says styles we be avaliable via the site, then FSX says that paul said that styles we be avaliable via the site.

Re: We need a style contest

Creating styles for Flux should be encouraged sometime.
