Automatic replacement of local links in a forum

I suggest to make wink
Works so:
There is a forum _http://example.com/
_http://example.com/viewtopic.php?id=1 -->

[topic]1[/topic]

_http://example.com/viewtopic.php?pid=1#p1 and _http://example.com/viewtopic.php?pid=1 -->

[post]1[/post]

_http://example.com/viewforum.php?id=1 -->

[forum]1[/forum]

_http://example.com/profile.php?id=2 -->

[user]2[/user]

In that case at change of url of the forum, all local links will work.

OK, but where is the sense to use this? You remember topic/posts, etc. IDs?

Re: Automatic replacement of local links in a forum

I have a counter question: Why these bb-codes are necessary? They aren't used!
They will be necessary if to make transformation of links to bb-codes only.

And main thing here: In that case at change of url of the forum, all local links will work.

Re: Automatic replacement of local links in a forum

Then the best way to use them would be to change

[url=http://forum.ltd/viewtopic.php?pid=12345#p12345]Blah[/url]

To

[post=12345]Blah[/post]

Directly while preparing the message after posting.

Re: Automatic replacement of local links in a forum

Still this replacement resolves an issue with change of the http/https protocols.

Re: Automatic replacement of local links in a forum

What's that issue exactly, Visman? On this forum, for example, we have automatic redirection for the user's https preference.

Regarding the idea in general, I think that we have to do something about recognizing these internal links in 2.0. They can serve as a good way to measure topic popularity and relevance. So I'd probably refrain from any automatic replacements for now, until the migrator for 2.0 is built. smile

Re: Automatic replacement of local links in a forum

For bb-codes [ topic ] and [ forum ] it is necessary to add additional parameter - page.

Different cases happen. The automatic redirection can not be.
