Re: Admin panel redesign

Let yourself inspire by other software a bit. Make big buttons for the most important things and please add things like "bigger fonts" for people with slight disabilities.

It should really be organized and easy to grasp. More advanced settings should be "hidden" a bit.

Also, don't forget about the SEO-stuff! (I think this fits the "settings"-tab, well) smile

Re: Admin panel redesign

I'd seen it in the admin panel outline. This is just an outline, I mean the system components.

Re: Admin panel redesign

I never liked a lot the dashboard concept: one goes to the admin panel because he already knows what he wants to do, the faster the better. the action should be one or two clicks away. in general the "apply changes" buttons should be standardized.

looking from a mod point of view, all mods should not be mixed with core functionalities, so have their own submenu (like plugins now). in the case a dashboard is provided, a hook (very much like drupal) should be called to show messages from the mod.

I'd like very much the option of having an hook system for mods: installation hook, viewtopic hook, post hook, removal hook, configuration hook... doing things this way should simplify the mod develoment and ensure a consistent appearance in the admin control panel.

Re: Admin panel redesign

Extensions will definitely be able to create new admin panel pages - we'll see how much they can change about existing ones...

@123: Cool concept. Please wait a bit, though, Yannick is currently doing a little bit of design work for the admin panel. Was that just an image, or did you create this with HTML and CSS?

Re: Admin panel redesign

It's just a picture, but I would give advice to do this. It's simple.

Re: Admin panel redesign

You could also have something similar to the trash can, only posts get moved there automatically once reported, only visible by admins. After a moderator has checked them, they should be given the option of deleting or restoring them.

Re: Admin panel redesign

I like this admin dashboard a lot, and the flat style suits fluxbb.

You don't need charts all over the place, it is just a showcase big_smile
