Browser support

I like FluxBB very much, ofcourse, I'm a developer. But for now, I saw that version 1.4.8 fixed some things for Internet Explorer 6. But actually, is there any need to keep supporting IE6? I think it's time to remove alle the IE6/7-related (since IE7 has less marketshare than IE6) code from the FluxBB core in FluxBB 2, but maybe it's good to remove this already in the FluxBB 1.5-branch. What do you guys think?

Re: Browser support

Hello !

According to http://www.ie6countdown.com/, IE6 usage is about 6% of the worldwide marketshare.

If FluxBB doesn't no more support IE6 and if it is clearly said/written, it shouldn't be a problem smile

Furthermore, it could be a good idea to see what is this browser's usage in fluxbb.org's logs, no ?

Re: Browser support

That's data from June. According to StatCounter, IE6 has a marketshare of 0,49%. Anyway, the next release of FluxBB isn't for the upcomming month (yes yes, the alpha 1 of FluxBB 2 is still planned for November), 2.0 isn't and 1.5.2 isn't eather.

Re: Browser support

For fluxbb.org, the market share of IE6/IE7 is about 0.5%. But then, this site is probably mostly used by more technically-inclined people, so I wouldn't see this as evidence for global usage (though I've heard that most of IE6 usage is from China).

Nontheless, we won't do any real work on fixing bugs for these old versions, and v2.0 will certainly not support them.

Looking to the out date data on ie6countdown.com, if you doesn't count China, it's 0,9%.
