International characters wont get searchable!

Hi everyone! I'm getting the error message:

Error: Unable to insert search index word matches.

when I use swedish characters åäö or ÅÄÖ in my message or topic and try to post it.
How do you solve this problem? The error arises from search_idx.php. Should I edit something in there?
All the MySQL databases are UTF8 and the åäöÅÄÖ characters chows up fine in the topics and posts but not in the search tables!

I really need fast help with this and appreciate any comments at all that could lead to some progress!

Any chance that you have

define('FORUM_NO_SET_NAMES', 1);

or something similar somewhere in your source code?

Probably config.php and include/common.php. Just use search and search for 'FORUM_NO_SET_NAMES'.

What version are you running? Searching was rather broken in RC1, if you are using that I'd suggest either downloading the latest SVN or waiting for RC2 (next week).
