Re: FluxBB at meego.com
Git is more flexible and encourages development in branches so master (HEAD) can be kept relatively stable, stable enough to be used as the main point of distribution (rolling release) for those willing to use it as such. Developers can create as many branches as they care to locally, with the complete project history, and send pull requests directly to other developers which accelerates exploration and testing and then marshal peer reviewed updates to the central repo. This can kind of be done using Subversion but it's such a kludgy experience no one really bothers. Manually applying svn patches is no where near as flexible as merging a pull request. Both Gitorious and Github make it really easy to "fork" a complete repository, with it's entire history (not just a checkout), and go completely berserk with ideas and innovation and push the good parts back to the original repo and drop the fork in the same time it takes to just just set up a single Subversion repo from scratch.

Re: FluxBB at meego.com
BTW: What is Meego. I had a quick look at the front page of the site and it didn't give any clue apart perhaps from being something to do with mobile devices.
The only thing worse than finding a bug is knowing I created it in the first place.

Re: FluxBB at meego.com
Only obstacles:
Linking with Drupal, SEO, and subforums. That may be pretty much all.

Re: FluxBB at meego.com
@markc: Do you know ,with fluxbb , there is no Poll , No sub forums, No private message, No hardly moderator permission control , and there is no migration tool for your vBB 3.8? then you planned to re construction from scratch?
I keep forgetting but one of the biggest downsides of FluxBB is IMHO the lack sub forums.
Sub forums do help in keeping things more tidy.
I would also feel more comfortable if it had PMs and polls but that I can live longer without.
Nevertheless, is there anything being thought about PMs and pools for 1.4 or higher? Maybe a mod?
Other than that, I don't see a migration tool as mandatory but it sure would be a nice addon.
But since it is already in the works we don't need to talk about it.
Cheers
