Re: 1.4 - Localized admin?

Was away for few days, and when i return i come on that topic.
(so, sry being a little late).

but since this has been strongly requested it may be worth breaking the rules...

A great move ! Excellent, Reines. Thanks.
It's obvious i'm for localized admin panel myself... big_smile
(as Paul said : "finishing off an incomplete existing feature", another great saying wink)

French community (before i was in charge) has ALWAYS done a translated admin panel (for 1.2, since the beginning). And SO make me discover and use the soft, as many others frenchs admins.
Moreover, the fact 1.2 panel admin was translated in french is, imo, one of the factor of PunBB (old) / FluxBB (new) being so popular in France (or other french-speaking countries).

Now, with Paul & Jojaba's work (and i hope, U, Reines), we have the possibility to have :
- the admin panel not only "translated", but "localized" (so, for ALL languages).
- this thing INCLUDED in the 1.4 release.

So, let's do it, guys... wink

Re: 1.4 - Localized admin?

Well I don't see any good arguments against this, and there seems to be a fair bit of support for it. Since the work is already done I guess we'll go ahead and merge it into the trunk ready for a 1.4 RC2 at the start of next month (this was planned anyway to allow us to include styles from the competition before the final release).

And corrected my overly repetitive coding in r1363.

Re: 1.4 - Localized admin?

Well, it makes sense that this should just be included anyways.

The work is done, and the point of FluxBB is having lightweight solution with only the bare essentials. Though it's true localization isn't required, but for the future of FluxBB, it is being more "required". The new site will be localized and the software has universal appeal, so it's only common sense to make localization a priority for future development. And going back to what was mentioned, the work has been done for 1.4, so why not include the feature now, since 2.0 is a long ways off?

In short, there's a demand for multiple languages (being FluxBB is more international now) and thus this is a requirement for the future of the software.

I added an update to the announcement to say localization has now been added.

Re: 1.4 - Localized admin?

I'm afraid there isn't one yet. We don't have any translators for a Russian language pack here.

I found one here: http://fluxbb.org/forums/topic/3548/rus … or-14-rc1/

Please check, is this language pack can be used with latest avaible 1.4 RC?

Re: 1.4 - Localized admin?

You can use it with RC1, which is currently the latest RC, but RC2 will be released soon and I think the language pack needs to be updated to work with RC2.
