Including faster options in Fluxbb 2.0

I think when you make a software and want to be the fastest one. then you need to consider all the modern options. not just page opening speed and serverload. also user experience.

For Example Quick Quote. i see no reason for it to not be in core. i mean wouldn't it be (FASTER) if you did a quick quote using javascript or something else rather then clicking on quote and reopening another page.

there are few reasons i think that you people don't want to use features like that.

1- May be it slows pages because it loads extra javascript code. (loading another page must be faster i guess big_smile )
2- You people might think that some browsers don't allow javascript. it must be 1% of browsers. (you want to work with every thing. then what about if a person use I.E5, even if it doesn't support javascript, you can make an alternate option by making him to open page the original way. )
3- does this some how increase server load.

or you tell me other reasons why stuff like quick quote are not included.

( i am not opening this topic for any heated discussion. just want to know what you think. and if that helps in future development of fluxbb. i just think its time for flux to use modern scripting. and its annoying too to do stuff like that)

And i dont mean just quick quote. there are others stuff that can be done much quicker.

like logging in. do i really have to go to login page. why isnt there just two blocks with username and password in the main page so i dont have to refresh page.

and i see there is dropdown menu in the footer which loads the forum you want to go. to tell you the truth i didnt use that even once in my whole life lol. now that sounded funny for me. wouldn't it be bitter if that was replaced with a block and a search button. or you could use javascript on search button and the top menu like vbulletin.

i am just sayinn. hmm

The only thing I agree with is the forum dropdown, although just replacing it with a search box seems strange, since people'd expect it to search in the forum/topic they're in.

I hate quick quote, so it had better be implemented correctly. Which as has been proved elsewhere is unlikely. It would also mean that the quick reply box would need to be resizeable - to cope with replying to larger posts.

1- May be it slows pages because it loads extra javascript code. (loading another page must be faster i guess big_smile )
2- You people might think that some browsers don't allow javascript. it must be 1% of browsers. (you want to work with every thing. then what about if a person use I.E5, even if it doesn't support javascript, you can make an alternate option by making him to open page the original way. )

accessibility - but if it defaults to the standard quote/reply then it isn't a problem. However javascript only links should really be added via the DOM.

Personally I think it should stay where it belongs, as an extension.

my mind is on a permanent tangent

If it was added in to core, I would go so far as to remove it.  I don't like it when people post replies that contain a previous post ad hoc.  It makes the thread unnecessarily long.
