Re: Development team changes
Cool that you have some changes, but I'm still wondering when 1.3 will be finished, you guys haven't commited anything in more than a week. I understand you're really busy with other stuff, but what can we "normal users" do to help developping 1.3?

Re: Development team changes
seriously, i might come on strong but is beta 2 due for 2008 ? I'm the first one who understand the lack of time problem as a webmaster but one day you'll have to release something good to use. If i understand correctly everybody is waiting beta 3 to start translating and making all the stuff and extensions that will make FluxBB great ? Is it so early that you cannot make a beta 3 and then bring what you have not finish in a beta 4 or something ?

If you looked around the forum, you would of read that all the remianing work requires Pauls markup changes to be commited. Eveything for the core is waiting on paul now, and becuase he has allot to do, and he has a busy life, it means we have to wait. I think the CSS is done, but its just the mark up now.

Re: Development team changes
Yeah, i've seen that months ago.
If everybody is waiting, that's not really efficient.
isn't there anyone else who can finish his markup stuff?
I think there are a lot of people here on the forum who really want to help.
including me.

Re: Development team changes
Maybe it's better this way. Maybe PunBB should release PunBB1.3 first. I don't know. Just a thought.
But not my call at all. I was just thinking out loud.

Beta 3 IS going to be released this year! I think your missing the point, if you released beta 3 now, like the current SVN then any extensions created for it will need to be re done for the next release, the changes that paul is doing with the markup and CSS will effect everything.
Paul is the only one who can do the markup, he takes responsibility for making it good.
And punbb 1.3 will need to have the new mark up and CSS for extension compatibility.

How would they if we haven't released 1.3? ![]()
And indeed, we're all waiting for Paul, and it isn't something we can change. Releasing beta 3 without the markup changes would be useless, since writing extensions would *still* be useless.

Not really, and we can't really control it either.

We cannot control it. Doesn't mean we like it.

Re: Development team changes
I'm not waiting on him, I can still do other stuff that doesn't affect the markup ... so I rather let it take the time it needs.
And I rather have a good markup, than a markup that will change 4-5 times extra just because it was hurried out to please some impatient people.

Well offering help in because I see that one person slows down a whole process is ungratefull?
It's just taking a long time, 2,5 years ago the main punbb developer told me 1.3 was only a few months away
I would love to upgrade my forum and write a lot of extensions that I need. I would love to start with the last, but can't because the markup isn't ready yet.
So Paul, could you give some information of how long you think it's going to take and what we can do to help you?

Re: Development team changes
How exactly are you helping with these comments?
Look, we all have to wait, learn to live with it.

Re: Development team changes
The markup is essentially finished, in fact it was finished a couple of weeks ago. I just haven't found time finish the stylesheet and do my final checking before committing. If I don't find time to finish it this week I will commit the markup next weekend and just tweak it after its committed.
The only thing worse than finding a bug is knowing I created it in the first place.
