And the winner is...
Technetium!
The decision has been made. We are pleased to announce Technetium by Lirodon as the winner of our official FluxBB 1.4 Styling Contest.
Technetium will be included in the official v1.4 download package. Lirodon will also be awarded €50 as a little motivation to maybe create more nice styles for FluxBB in the future.
We were obviously hoping for more participation in the contest, but I believe that we can be content with the results. Technetium is nice on the eyes, uses "glossy"-style gradient backgrounds, a serif font and is thus a real contrast to the "old" styles which are still included in the package. And that is a good thing, as offering a diverse set of default styles can obviously serve to attract more users.
A sneak peek at the winner:
Getting the competition done and uploading the winner was also the last major task before we could release the second and last release candidate of 1.4, which will happen in the next days.

I'll try and get a patch request in for the updates I did, the icons got changed and a background got added, among other tweaks, in between.

Congratulations to the winner (was not my favourite, but looks modern too)
Maybe it would be possible to add all contestant styles to full fluxxbb install and only Technetium will be the default.
So other / new users can get inspirations for modifying the theme and see what it is possible ...
