USB File recovery

Does anybody know a good program to recover files from a somehow broken (not physically) USB stick?

Is this possible at all?

I already tried PCI File Recovery, but didn't get along with it. Does not seem to work with USB mediums.

Re: USB File recovery

If you have access to a *nix machine, use dd to copy it across to the hard drive and work on it from there. dd will give you a byte for byte copy, corrupted or otherwise. smile

Re: USB File recovery

Thank you. Will try that.

Any Windows programs, though?

No idea, but if the problem with your other programme is due to it being on a USB stick, you can pop it on whatever medium you want when you have an off-stick copy. smile

Re: USB File recovery

"M:\ is not accessible."

Linux doesn't seem to recognize the medium either.

No, I didn't have it on a USB stick, it just only works with hard drives...

The data for recovery, not the recovery programme. smile

Re: USB File recovery

Can't access the medium, can't access the data tongue

Re: USB File recovery

If the USB stick is not recognized in the PC or it is impossible to access the data on it, the controller on the stick is damaged. There is only one way to get the data back, unsolder memory chips and directly access their raw data with a programable chip reader. Software can't help, that is a physical damage! Have a look at: data recovery from nand flash pen drives/USB sticks
