Leaving
I'm just making this post to let everyone know that I'm no longer going to be working as a developer for FluxBB. I simply no longer have the large amounts of time necessary to devote to this project.
I still plan to hang around, of course: FluxBB is one of my favorite pieces of software and given all the time I've spent working on it, it wouldn't feel right to just abandon it. ![]()
I'll be in the forums answering questions. I'll still be running PunBB-Hosting. I'll be available if anyone has any coding jobs or questions that need my expertise: just send me an email via the forums. However, I won't be contributing directly to the coding of 1.3.
It has been my pleasure to work on FluxBB/PunBB for the past few years, and I would like to thank everyone who has made that possible, from the developers I've worked with to the users who have embraced FluxBB/PunBB and used it on their site. FluxBB/PunBB was one of the first projects I worked with when I was learning PHP, and it has been my pleasure to help develop it.

Re: Leaving
I'm sorry to hear that you won't be a part of the dev team, but am glad to know you'll still be around to answer questions and such.
Thanks for all your hard work on both PunBB and FluxBB.

Re: Leaving
It's a displeasure to ear that. I would thank you for all you've done on this project.
I don't want to be barefaced but how your leaving will affect next flux release?
At this time beta3 is been delayed for quite three months and I can't found a possible date for RC1 release. I know the great work done by Paul with new style and the delay is fully justified. I know also you are not alone as developer but I'm a bit worried.
With my words I don't want to offend or rebuke anyone and previous question is just only a question, I want to be clear on this point to not seem too rude. I've translated italics verbs with a dictionary so please read don't read them literally, it's not easy for me to give right mean to my posts.

Re: Leaving
This is a drawback.
I don't think that - recently - anyone contributed some much as you did... you corrected most bugs and glitches in less than 24h after reported, and without any kind of disrespect, everyone else has their life and their time commitments, but I don't see that happening this day forward.
Other than you, FluxBB is Paul, Connor and Kris, if I'm not mistaken. Paul is markup only. That leaves us Connor and Kris for programming tasks. Kris, from what I see in the trac doesn't commit that much. Connor, if I recall correctly, not long ago in PunBB was also very busy, leaving him no time to contribute, if that happens here again...
Bad, bad news...
Other than that, thanks for everything! Best wishes of success for you!

I'm sure they talked about what happens when Smartys leaves the team and have a solution for his absence. Maybe someone from the community will fill the gap.

Sad to see you go, but I understand fully what lack of time does, I'm there most of the time these days ![]()
Hope you can 're-charge' your batteries and feel like coming back in the future when/if you get more time. You're a valuable person to have as a developer! ![]()
Thanks for all your work ![]()

Re: Leaving
Smartys please please reconsider if at all possible..
I could be wrong because I`m sure there is a lot that happens behind the sceenes and I don`t wish to take anything away from Paul, Connor and Kristoffer, but I perceive you to be the main driving force for FluxBB. I fear for it`s future if you retire.
Maybe there is more that the community can do to aid FluxBB`s progression and take some of the work of the developers.

Re: Leaving
It would be pretty cool if you waited until after 1.3 is released (and helped push it out in the meantime). Or even Beta 3 or the RC.

Now then, a couple posts need to be answered!
I don't want to be barefaced but how your leaving will affect next flux release?

Frankly, I don't know. You would have to ask the other developers that. It is really in their hands. I have absolutely nothing to do with planning timeframes for 1.3 releases. ![]()
It would be pretty cool if you waited until after 1.3 is released (and helped push it out in the meantime). Or even Beta 3 or the RC.
What do you suppose I've been attempting to do for the past few months? ![]()
The fact of the matter is that I have devoted quite a lot of free time to FluxBB this summer and it has not been enough. In the future, I can not (and do not want to) devote anywhere near that level of time for various reasons (especially because of the sheer amount of time involved). So, I'm stepping down.

Re: Leaving
What?! Like you need time to make money to buy food. Pfffff. As if anyone needed food. That's just outrageous.
Is there any prospect developers the core team is looking at to replace you?

Re: Leaving
These is a shock! Does these mean timeline will lenghten significaly?
Why leave now? The project looks it has great potencial.
Don't know but if i say honestly I hope FluxBB "doesn't die out".
Timeline issues, dev leaving... Well see. But you can still change your mind if u miss the pressure? ![]()
