Markup Progress Report
Revision 408 does the following:
1. Completes global markup changes. If I need to update multiple files again it will be for something trivial like a class name which has been searched and replaced.
2. Completes transition from one admin lanaguage file to seperate langauge files for each admin page.
The next stage is a file by file review and a colour scheme file. I will be working on that today though how far I get remains to be seen. Once that is completed we should be back to a fully functional working copy on svn which can be deployed here for testing.
The following are still subject to alteration/completion
1. Post indicator system.
2. Tableless layout but only because it hasn't been tested on a live board.
3. Admin/extensions page. This is the one page that hasn't been updated properly because there may be changes which effect the design.
4. Wide image handling in posts (this one won't seem to go away).
5. Langauge file for db_update.php
6. Do something about required field warnings/errors.
7. Still half considering switching admin to a vertical menu.
8. Check admin headings and crumbs. I think they may be a bit inconsistent.

Is it wise to start translating now?

No but only because I'm going through them today checking for inconsistencies. Tomorrow should be fine. However you should be prepared for minor changes but nothing which will cause you much extra work. It will almost certainly be the case that once people start translating problems will emerge which will need to be corrected. Unfortunately the only way to beta test a langauge file is by people actually trying to translate it which is bound to result in some additional work for translators who get involved at this stage. On the other hand, the more feedback we get on the language files now the better the final versions will be.

7. Still half considering switching admin to a vertical menu.
I like the menu as it is. If it is vertical, how will you display all the submenus? I think it should stay as it is... Its easy to use and is simalar to profile.

Re: Markup Progress Report
Personally i hate both of them. I hate it when the menu will collapse when you move off it.

Re: Markup Progress Report
Vertical menus don't need to collapse. You just have a nested submenu list which is only generated for the current active top menu item.

Re: Markup Progress Report
vertical menus like 1.2 right, i liked that because you could go to any page in the first click, submenus need to go to first page and then other etc. But its not bad either, both looks good. any one will be fine.
3. Admin/extensions page. This is the one page that hasn't been updated properly because there may be changes which effect the design.
Paul, please consider this post: http://fluxbb.org/forums/post/7628/#p7628
Great work Paul. i cant believe when i saw the last change in dev was so big that it taked ages to open the page and you did it in one day. thats realy impressive. may be not in one day but it was very impressive.

Just because stuff was committed to SVN in the course of one day does not mean that all of the work was done in the course of one day. ![]()

Re: Markup Progress Report
Just to note, the new markup looks alot better on Opera Mobile than the old one.
The topic view is a tad cramped when I put it in widescreen though (but that's probably some sillyness in Opera Mobile).
This is only Opera Mobile 8.60 tho, the latest refused to install for some reason.

Re: Markup Progress Report
Paul,
This new colorless look, you can name it after a noble gas:

That's if you leave it in as one of the defaults.

Re: Markup Progress Report
And the colour scheme hasn't been done because I find it easier to see what I'm doing without it.

Re: Markup Progress Report
I think hcgtv suggested to leave it colorless and make it one of the default styles with a name from a noble gas. Oxygen being the blue/white coloured one

I've been playing around with this colorless look most of the afternoon and I think it would be a great starter template for someone looking to start customizing Flux.

Re: Markup Progress Report
The colour schemes are and were a separate file in 1.2 as well, you can easily edit or remove them if you are creating your own style.

Re: Markup Progress Report
I have no idea what you mean by that, anyone can open the standard css files and read one of the first lines which says /* Import the colour scheme */ and understand that the file included below is the colour scheme.
