Domain FluxBB.pl bought - polish support is under development.

I'm author of 1.2 polish language pack (Nevethir) and owner of polish punbb support.

Maybe you should have read the Flux boards before, locale support may be (it's still been discussed) integrated into the Fluxbb.org website and domain.

It should be improved by French people.

And another locale domain bought.

Flux's team, maybe you should make a decision about what you want for the internationalization support and locale site. This is getting out of hands, imo.

Re: Supporting FluxBB

Jérémie: I think it's premature for us to make an official decision before we have a solution in place, especially if that decision were to be that official support would be integrated (after all, it would be impossible to mandate that if we didn't provide a way to do it). If people would like to register domains in the meantime, they're more than welcome to. It won't have an impact on our decision, whatever it may be. wink

Re: Supporting FluxBB

That means people buying domains for nothing and bitching about it, and also locale subsite/community at Fluxx competing with external communities.

I can see quite a mess coming ahead, but maybe I've missed something.

Re: Supporting FluxBB

They can always redirect the domains to the official site.

Before January 24th, you'll see why FluxBB 1.2 won't be like "FluxBB 1.2."

Even if we annouce we are going to do official support sites, people will buy the domains.

Re: Supporting FluxBB

If locale communities decide to migrate to FluxBB, they will obviously continue the support on their local sites.
Changing domain name is just part of the move.

Sorry, but I don't understand your view. I'm polish support owner for 3 years. I don't want stop supporting idea of PunBB... I think international forums are not as good as local forums. Why? Because people are usually looking information or help in e.g. Google by searching with option for their country. Multi-language forums of projects have got less users and posts, than local... in fact new users can't find help for their problems with FluxBB if they don't know English.

Re: Supporting FluxBB

We weren't planning on having multi-language forums, we were planning on hosting separate support sites for each language, but we haven't really discussed it fully yet, we're open to suggestions.

Re: Supporting FluxBB

Using Ubuntu as an example: http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community/webforums

Having disparate forums, run by enthusiastic members of the community has worked for them.

It could be an idea... what about design? Same for all?

Re: Supporting FluxBB

Yeh, same for all but translated, then the wiki would point to the wiki for that language, and each language would have a separate forum.

Re: Supporting FluxBB

What about creating the following extensions? Those are mentioned in this article

WYSIWYG Editor, Attachment, Calendar

FluxBB, the PunBB of tomorrow - today!

Re: Supporting FluxBB

Errm, what does that have to do with this thread?

Re: Supporting FluxBB

When the extensions are created, the Wikipedia page can be changed and maybe some more people will find FluxBB by taking a look at the table - unfortunately the good performance isn't obvious for a reader of Wikipedia..
