Added a readme file. This will be deleted later. I just added it as an easy way of make a commit with a note attached.

There will now commence a series of commits over the next few days which will be
a complete and hopefully final markup, css and language file update.

    1. Stylesheets will be deleted. The stylesheets have been completely rewritten so it is easier to simply delete the existing stylesheets and replace them. The stylesheets have been split to make debugging easier. They will be recombined at a later stage. The stylesheet upload will be the last stage of this commit.

    2. Files will be committed one or two at a time. I am short of time and the bigger the commit the more chance there is of a mistake. Large commits also seem to make Trac lockup, at least on my connection. Public interface files with there accompanying language files will be committed first probably one or two at a time. Admin files will follow.

Note: If nothing gets in my way this should take a couple of days but the way things are it might take as much as 7 days. Please do not use the svn version in the meantime and do not update the website. Devs can continue to work on files as I will update prior to each commit and I can patch where necessary.

Re: Joy!

Wow the stylesheet is really gone.

Before January 24th, you'll see why FluxBB 1.2 won't be like "FluxBB 1.2."

I don't actually do changes, I do total rewrites which is why I don't much like svn. Versioning is great once you have a fairly stable branch and just want to tinker with it but not so good otherwise. Perhaps we should have had two development branches, one stable and one experimental.

The only thing worse than finding a bug is knowing I created it in the first place.

    See note to r.719

Somebody needs to start reviewing the hooks in the changed files (r.719 onwards). There won't be any other substantive updates of these files so its safe to do the final hook placements.
...

That "somebody" looks kind of disturbing. I mean, you either have a task assigned to someone, or chances are that no one will take it.

Re: Joy!

8k84: "Somebody" will prob have started looking at the task already but jusst not accepted the ticked on SVN.

Considering everything we do we volunteer for, that just doesn't make any sense.

Re: Joy!

Don't get me wrong, this is not a complaint. Of course volunteers can do whatever they volunteer for. And I think I grok the meaning of the word "soon" and don't expect release in foreseeable future.

It's just that from what was said before it looked like all devs knew what to do and just waited for Paul's commits. And now when we see Paul's commits, it suddenly looks like one (at least one) fundamental task is actually not taken by anyone.

I mean it's Ok to have some tasks "open for grabs" when the core of a project is completed and relatively minor things are needed. But when the core work is managed in the same way, it only means that the project is going to be completed "soon".

Again: this is not a complaint, just an observation.

Re: Joy!

One of the 3 devs who would review the hooks rushing to do it isn't going to speed up the release of 1.3. If Paul had finished then maybe, but there are still other things to do after the markup is complete and 3 of us to split the work between.

Also, "fundamental task", slight exaggeration.

Re: Joy!

Too much fuss over what was a note tipping everybody off that I have probably mangled a few hooks during the markup update.
