I remember when i used PunBB and extension for it - Portal by Daris. Fantastic combination. Congratulation to Dariusz (daris) and i am happy to see you on board as FluxBB new team member!
Congratulation on good progress on the development of v2.0 too!

Incremental + timeline that is doable.

If the developers believe FluxBB has reached a peak in version 1.4. And it just can't go in the direction you want it to go from here on. Leave FluxBB 1.4 and only maintain it until the day FluxBB 2.0 will be stable for production environment. And start with 2.0 today!
No point in braking 1.4 backwards compatibility every single new release. Because developers won't be happy with it and users wont be happy with it.
Strong 1.4 community until 2.0. And then clean slate.
Users are happy developers are happy?
If FluxBB 1.4 in developers opinion haven't reached it's peak. Then this is my opinion:

You should stick with 1.4 for a while. And make timeline that is doable. Then implement one feature a time. And with every new release optimise everything a bit. So its better then it was before.
I think for now small things are those that will make a big difference. You have a product. Work with it for a while. And after 1.5, 1.6, 1.7, 1.8, 1.9 you will have 2.0. That will be much better than you can imagine it right now!

I am very happy to see FluxBB 1.4 officially released! Great work.

Yes and no.
"Latest announcements" on front page. If it would be something like that i would like it the most.

I often click on all my links in my bookmarks. And check pages that are interesting to me enough to check them out on daily bases. And this are usually very superficial visits. Just to see whats new. What's going on!
And i said before. And i will say again. When i "land" on Fluxbb. The only problem i have is. There is no place on the page where recent activities (on forums) would be listed. And i could go manually into each forum. To see whats going on. But i think it would be much better if somewhere there would be short list of recent activity. Then when i see something i am interested in. I click on it. If there is no such a list. Often i and probably some other people will miss something that they would normally react to and include them self in the debate.
So basically. I miss active topics list somewhere on the site.
That's about it!

I think old people might have troubles with this new website. It's just too fast.

Hi. First impressions:
Works fast
Looks good
Good looking new theme for FluxBB 1.4
Width is maybe too small. But i will probably get use to it quickly (in a few days)
Maybe if short list of active topics would be displayed somewhere. That would be good?
Otherwise great job and i like new website!

You can't stop people from using what you show them. Every effort in trying that is pointless.
#11 Re: FluxBB discussion » FluxBB at meego.com » 2010-03-10 19:37:53

MeeGo is join effort between Intel and Nokia to join their program platform Maemo (Nokia) and Moblin (Intel) and make programing platform that will work on wide range of devices (mobile phones, netbooks, table PC, TV systems, car entertainment...).
It is based on Linux.

Something like that?
#18 Re: FluxBB discussion » New website preview - feedback » 2009-10-30 13:54:56

What if we all wait to see what developers will do and then give feedback. ![]()
Probably the new page is in the development stage. And we the community don't have the whole picture yet of what it will be in the end?
So a bit of freedom and open mind won't hurt anybody. I think that is much more likely it will be better then before? Not that current one is bad. But it will be new. And it will have some new features probably?
I think it will be good.

David Carradine died to. I liked him especially in series and movie Kung Fu.
#22 Re: General discussion » How to screw up an Open Source project » 2009-05-08 12:29:05

but ended up getting tangled in the code.
If i understand things correctly 1.3 branch was dead end from the beginning. Markup stuff just couldn't be done correctly? Without drastically changing things. Extensions system probably become a bit to much too.
So better go on the different road than get stuck in dead end. Nothing wrong with that.
#23 Re: FluxBB discussion » New way in managing signatures » 2009-04-03 14:57:15

To make it cross-browser you'll need some Javascript. If IE6 didn't exist - 2 lines of CSS would be enough, but we can pretend IE6 does not exist.
There will come the time that we should start pretending just that.
