I think Fluxbb is still super promising project, and it will be loss if they let go of it. I think it has a great future and the Developers main or others Consecrate on what they gonno do next.
1- I looked at trac, and it seems to me that 1.4 is complete, unless i am mistaken. So Release it in Maximum 3 days as Beta.
2- If any one have problem with it in a month then Release Final.
3- Plan about what you people gonno replace with the current Extension system.
4- Main developers decide who are qualified enough among the current developers to work in 2.0.
5- Paul have to decide if can work the template system alone.
6- If not then paul should post every small update he do in the repostry and others will be help him.
7- Developers should decide if they can complete the work on 2.0 in maximum 3 months. By adding good extension and template system.
8- They should also decide if they can provide free time for the project.
9- First Beta of 2.0 should be released in July 1st or August 1st Maximum.
Well these are examples of the steps to take to get control of the project. And you people should share this information with the community here too. well good luck people.

Oh yes, now i was working with punbb for past few months, and visiting flux weekly, and only see 2, 3 new posts. i realy want to see your plans, To all devs. i saw paul say something about Pure php extension. may be he share it with the new developers that are added for 1.3, so the developing process gets faster.

#64 Feature requests » Including faster options in Fluxbb 2.0 » 2009-02-08 17:38:51

I think when you make a software and want to be the fastest one. then you need to consider all the modern options. not just page opening speed and serverload. also user experience.
For Example Quick Quote. i see no reason for it to not be in core. i mean wouldn't it be (FASTER) if you did a quick quote using javascript or something else rather then clicking on quote and reopening another page.
there are few reasons i think that you people don't want to use features like that.
1- May be it slows pages because it loads extra javascript code. (loading another page must be faster i guess
)
2- You people might think that some browsers don't allow javascript. it must be 1% of browsers. (you want to work with every thing. then what about if a person use I.E5, even if it doesn't support javascript, you can make an alternate option by making him to open page the original way. )
3- does this some how increase server load.
or you tell me other reasons why stuff like quick quote are not included.
( i am not opening this topic for any heated discussion. just want to know what you think. and if that helps in future development of fluxbb. i just think its time for flux to use modern scripting. and its annoying too to do stuff like that)
And i dont mean just quick quote. there are others stuff that can be done much quicker.
like logging in. do i really have to go to login page. why isnt there just two blocks with username and password in the main page so i dont have to refresh page.
and i see there is dropdown menu in the footer which loads the forum you want to go. to tell you the truth i didnt use that even once in my whole life lol. now that sounded funny for me. wouldn't it be bitter if that was replaced with a block and a search button. or you could use javascript on search button and the top menu like vbulletin.
i am just sayinn. ![]()

paulrobert_a wrote:Probably a stupid suggestion, but why don't you just rename 1.3 to 2.0 alpha 0 or 1?
Because 2.0 will not be simply a continuation of the 1.3 development.
how's that. i thought you people will tweak 1.3.
or are you people planning to start from beginning.

I readed this blog spot and laughed like an (i don't know something). And just wanted to share this with you people.

So here is the Post:
By "Elch"; originally posted on Slashdot
In case you don't speak German (just as this hacker), I've tried a little translation to English. I might have made some spelling errors, but the original spelling wasn't perfect either. The guy really said "buy buy" in the German version.
For information:
The dangerous hacker is called bitchchecker and the one being hacked and original author of the comments, who is talking here, is known as Elch.
127.0.0.1 is always the IP address of the computer you're currently using; any request there will return to your computer.
Notice that in Germany we get Daylight Savings Time (DST) earlier than in the US.
The story starts (I'm shortcutting here) with a kid insulting everyone on the #stopHipHop IRC channel. Most people there believed it was rather funny, but it got even more funny...* bitchchecker (~java@euirc-a97f9137.dip.t-dialin.net) Quit (Ping timeout#)
* bitchchecker (~java@euirc-61a2169c.dip.t-dialin.net) has joined #stopHipHop
<bitchchecker> why do you kick me
<bitchchecker> can't you discus normally
<bitchchecker> answer!
<Elch> we didn't kick you
<Elch> you had a ping timeout: * bitchchecker (~java@euirc-a97f9137.dip.t-dialin.net) Quit (Ping timeout#)
<bitchchecker> what ping man
<bitchchecker> the timing of my pc is right
<bitchchecker> i even have dst
<bitchchecker> you banned me
<bitchchecker> amit it you son of a bitch
<HopperHunter|afk> LOL
<HopperHunter|afk> shit you're stupid, DST^^
<bitchchecker> shut your mouth WE HAVE DST!
<bitchchecker> for two weaks already
<bitchchecker> when you start your pc there is a message from windows that DST is applied.
<Elch> You're a real computer expert
<bitchchecker> shut up i hack you
<Elch> ok, i'm quiet, hope you don't show us how good a hacker you are ^^
<bitchchecker> tell me your network number man then you're dead
<Elch> Eh, it's 129.0.0.1
<Elch> or maybe 127.0.0.1
<Elch> yes exactly that's it: 127.0.0.1 I'm waiting for you great attack
<bitchchecker> in five minutes your hard drive is deleted
<Elch> Now I'm frightened
<bitchchecker> shut up you'll be gone
<bitchchecker> i have a program where i enter your ip and you're dead
<bitchchecker> say goodbye
<Elch> to whom?
<bitchchecker> to you man
<bitchchecker> buy buy
<Elch> I'm shivering thinking about such great Hack0rs like you
* bitchchecker (~java@euirc-61a2169c.dip.t-dialin.net) Quit (Ping timeout#)What happened is clear: That guy entered his own IP address in his mighty Hack-Tool and crashed his own PC. This way, the attack on my PC was a failure.
I was already starting to think that I did not have to worry, but a good hacker never calls it a day. Two minutes later he returned.
* bitchchecker (~java@euirc-b5cd558e.dip.t-dialin.net) has joined #stopHipHop
<bitchchecker> dude be happy my pc crashed otherwise you'd be gone
<Metanot> lol
<Elch> bitchchecker: Then try hacking me again... I still have the same IP: 127.0.0.1
<bitchchecker> you're so stupid man
<bitchchecker> say buy buy
<Metanot> ah, [Please control your cussing] off
<bitchchecker> buy buy elch
* bitchchecker (~java@euirc-b5cd558e.dip.t-dialin.net) Quit (Ping timeout#)There was a tension in the room... Would he manage, after these two failures, to crash my PC? I waited. Nothing happened. I felt relieve...
Six minutes passed by until he prepared the next wave of attack. Being a Hacker, who usually cracks whole data centers, he knew what his problem was now.

<Metanot> are you hacking yourselves?
<Elch> yes bitchchecker is trying to hack me

<bitchchecker> turn the firewall off then i send you a virus [Please control your cussing]er
<Elch> Noo
<Metanot> he bitchchecker why turn it off, you should turn it off
<bitchchecker> you're afraid
<bitchchecker> i don't wanna hack like this if he hides like a girl behind a fire wall
<bitchchecker> elch turn off your shit wall!
<Metanot> i wanted to say something about this, do you know the definition of hacking??? if he turns of the firewall that's an invitation and that has nothing to do with hacking
<bitchchecker> shut up
<Metanot> lol
<bitchchecker> my grandma surfs with fire wall
<bitchchecker> and you suckers think you're cool and don't dare going into the internet without a fire wallHe calls me girly and says only his grandma would use a firewall. I know that elder people are much more intelligent then younger, but I couldn't let that rest. To see whether he really is a good hacker I lie and let everything as it is. I don't have a firewall at all, only my router.
<Elch> bitchchecker, a collegue showed me how to turn the firewall off. Now you can try again
<Metanot> bitchhacker can't hack
<Black<TdV>> nice play on words ^^

<Elch> that's bad
<bitchchecker> elch you idiout your hard drive g: is deleted
<Elch> yes, there's nothing i can do about it
<bitchchecker> and in 20 seconds f: is goneYes, true, G: and F: were gone. Did I ever have them? Doesn't matter, I did not have time to think, I was scared. bitchchecker was comforting me with a music tip.
<bitchchecker> tupac rules
<bitchchecker> elch you son of a bitch your f: is gone and e: tooDrive E:? Oh my god... All the games are there! And the vacation pictures! I instantly take a look. Everything still there. But the hacker said it was deleted....
Or isn't it happening on my computer?
<bitchchecker> and d: is at 45% you idiot lolololol
<He> why doesn't meta say anything
<Elch> he's probably rolling on the floor laughing
<Black<TdV>> ^^
<bitchchecker> your d: is gone
<He> go on BITCHThe guy is good: My CD-drive is allegedly deleted! Bitchchecker turned my ancient disk sucker into a burner! But how did he do this? I'll have to ask him. Some encourage him. He himself is giving advice how to avoid the disaster on my hard drives.
<bitchchecker> elch man you're so stupid never give your ip on the internet
<bitchchecker> i'm already at c: 30 percentShould I tell him he's not attacking my computer?
* bitchchecker (~java@euirc-9ff3c180.dip.t-dialin.net) Quit (Ping timeout#)
Too late... It's 20:22 when we get the last message of our hacker with the alias "bitchchecker". We see that he has a "Ping timeout".
We haven't seen him since then... must be the Daylight Saving Time.

agreed with Utchin. and you call it XXXdess, NEVER say that to something tiny as that.

or i have a bitter idea, do the clean punbb 1.2 installation. do not add modifications yet, and when 1.4 comes, update will be very easy. just update it. then add modifications.
i dont know when 1.4, thats up to the devs to answer, they always say little time, so it must be little.
#69 Re: General support (1.2) » New and Confused » 2009-01-28 09:13:15

i think you should wait little time, for 1.4 to be released, the difference between 1.2 and 1.4 is just uf8 support, i think you might need that.

SuperMAG wrote:yes i agree to keydog, he is right.
That's a surprise. He seems to be your alter ego.
hey, what does that mean? easy English please.
I agree with him because since fluxbb 1.3 will not be supported, there is not much difference with punbb 1.3. why not tell people to use that. that one is fully supported. If two projects with almost same code, extensions will be distributed in both, that way people will get little benefit. since some extensions will work here and some there.
if the devs are worried that it will decrease popularity of fluxbb, they are wrong, in fact it will increase it. since people will chat there about (fluxbb will have 2.0 with bla bla bla features) etc.
and also to upgrade from fluxbb 1.3 dev edition to punbb just replace files and run db update. so its easy.
and to update from punbb 1.3 to fluxbb 2.0 ( i think it will be the same, no special scripts required).
but i want to know this, will punbb use fluxbb 2.0 code.

I have always found Punbb/FluxBB to be amazing and at time I did try to make punbb into a simple website (not forum) because I though that the way punbb was coded was fab. I have found something like punbb: Pixie
www.getpixie.co.uk Its a fab light simple website, easy, fast and quick to use.
Its interesting to see the ways different people approach the same method.
Thats an amazing software, damn you posted it now. it will be too hard to import my site from wordpress. Thanks for posting.
and if any one have any other scripts like that, please post.

#74 Re: Feature requests » Improving extension updating system for Fluxbb 2.0 » 2009-01-25 19:48:05

well i didn't know that it was up to the developer to put upgrade code in the extension. because it was TOO many extension have the same problem. so i thought it was not intendant to be included in the extension.
#75 Re: Feature requests » Improving extension updating system for Fluxbb 2.0 » 2009-01-25 17:42:06
- SuperMAG
so its about how its coded, ok this point must be madded more clearer to extension developers, mmm that must be the reason i didn't want to go to punbb at the first place. they are not pros, there is polls, pm's, custom pages, that all i tried and the data were deleted after extension got updated.
And deactivating/reactivating does/did not remove data. Uninstalling/reinstalling does.
oh isnt
activate/deactivate = install/uninstall
same in fluxbb
That isn't correct, as long as the version number of the extension has changed there is an upgrade button which will upgrade the extension without removing any data.
well there was no upgrade button when i updated the extension files. and the version number was changed too. this bug might be from the developer side too.
