#1 Re: FluxBB discussion » FluxBB 1.4 : url rewriting ? » 2009-01-12 09:18:43
- yemgi
I agree with Jérémie, there are more important features than URL rewritting. FluxBB/PunBB is very well indexed by search engines already. Human readability of the search results comes with meta description not with URL rewritting.
UTF8 and alternative search function within the forum are much more needed.
And as already replied to your first post here you are not speaking for the French community so stop saying so please.

Congrats to the team for moving forward. I think you chose the wise way.
Of course lots of people will not be happy that 1.3 is dropped but they have been warned for monthes (years?) that it was not supposed to be used in production and anyway there is a released / supported version at PunBB...
I look forward to using 1.4
Keep up the good work

Changing 1.3 to 2.0 is a very good idea and I think it should have been done right from the start to avoid confusion.
I like the idea of continuing the 1.2 development for the time being, it is a robust platform and moving it to UTF-8 will be a good move to keep it attractive as it will help for integration with other softwares.
I think 1.5 would be a better number numbering choice than 1.4 as it shows a rupture whereas 1.4 could be thought to be an evolution of 1.3 and will only bring confusion.
As for 1.3 (2.0) further development, I think Connor's proposal of implementing more features as templating is worth the wait and I would not mind the release to be delayed further. As some other users, I do not need 1.3, 1.2 does all I need, with modifications yes, but I don't feel the need to upgrade. If delaying the release allows for a better product, I say go for it.
Edit: Meow, could you please try to use your brain before writing, I am really fed up of reading your constant nonsense all over this forum
#5 Re: FluxBB discussion » Is the database structure of 1.3-beta2 frozen for the release of v1.3? » 2008-08-29 07:43:25

The structure of the database in beta2 no, the structure of the one in the latest SVN highly possible
#6 Re: Feature requests » FluxBB 1.3 - One more hook please ! » 2008-08-16 09:33:11
- yemgi
Beta 2 is way outdated, lots of changes have been made since then.
Hook requests are to be posted there: http://fluxbb.org/forums/topic/47/hook-requests/
There can not be a hook where you ask as they aget loaded after, the first one is at line123

which kind of stuff? I don't see what could break by adding an <a></a> tag around an <img/>

Why not modify the parser so it replaces
by
<a href="http://example.com/myimage.jpg" alt="" title="click to view full size" /><img src="http://example.com/myimage.jpg" /></a>and have the image cropped to fit the forum as in 1.2 so you just have to click on it to view the full size. No JS involved, no server overload either.

Most of the time when you get a blank page after installation it is that you have saved config.php with an incorrect encoding type. It should be iso-8859-1

For modified version it is easier to use the hdiff I think

Sorry, I did not try to register on 1.3, I assumed it work as 1.2. ![]()
I agree with you that it would be nice if the user got logged in after setting his password

How could you automatically login if email confirmation is requested? You have to wait for the new user to receive the mail and click on the link for him to be registered otherwise it bypasses the email verification.

ROFL I could not have expressed it better.
how much bandwidth they can eat any way, its not that much of a problem. may be 1, 2, or may up to 10 mb
They can eat the bandwidth if you have fluxBB on your server because FluxBB is a fork
Sorry, I could not resist ![]()

#19 Re: FluxBB discussion » Love the simple design, but the CSS seems pretty hard core! » 2008-07-27 15:26:47

Nonetheless your phrase is meaningless, the markup may have changed between 1.2 and 1.3 but the use of CSS has not changed. The software styling was already 100% CSS driven
#20 Re: Feature requests » Messaging Services » 2008-07-22 10:15:54
- yemgi
I agree on this one, this should be an extension that allows you to add as much messaging service as you want. In most cases these are left empty apart from the email which is needed to register.
#21 Re: FluxBB discussion » What should be core? » 2008-07-22 10:13:23
- yemgi
Neither do I, captcha and antibot are not features of a forum software but protection mechanism you can add if needs be IMHO.
The split/merge feature is a very useful moderation tool that was solved in 1.2 by fpouget's move post mod. I really think this should be part of the default moderation option of a forum software. I agree that some people don't see a need for it but on large or popular boards it is necessary if you want to keep threads organized and prevent off-topic discussion
#22 Re: FluxBB discussion » so how much did punbb sell for? » 2008-07-21 18:33:07

Who cares how much it sold anyway, this has nothing to do with FluxBB. I can not understand why this thread has not been deleted yet. It has obviously been created to provoke by looking at the profile of the creator

I think hcgtv suggested to leave it colorless and make it one of the default styles with a name from a noble gas. Oxygen being the blue/white coloured one
