Thanks for the TxP plugin links. I'm wondering whether either of them would be suitable for my purposes. I need a forum that can handle, potentially, hundreds of users and a handful of moderators. I guess I was hoping to save a user, who comments on the TxP blog, from having to sign up to the forum.

I guess time to head over to the TXP forum to ask there?

Just wondering whether it is currently possible to integrate FluxBB with Textpattern CMS?

Maybe you want to look into TXP plugins like txphorum or mem_moderation?

Indeed a very fine site!

Textpattern is the best CMS/Blog that we have today. There are others with more users, like Wordpress, more bells and whistles, like Expression Engine, more modular, like Drupal, or more ways to make a buck with, like Joomla!, but for my money, I'll be running Textpattern on Debian till carpal tunnel syndrome forces me to give up my online lifestyle.

Hey, so in the end our opinions are of more of a match than I thought big_smile!

You mention Wordpress, I'll mention Textpattern. Textpattern at present has one active developer, everybody has vacated the premises. I still use Textpattern but it's getting to the point where I'm looking at supporting it myself cause the future looks a bit bleak.

Sorry Bert, I cannot share your view von Textpattern. First TXP features a quite mature code base and does achieve what it is destined for. Plus, you know pretty well, that TXP is supported by quite a bunch of excellent plugin coders (including you with your excellent themes plugin - I really love that and would hate to see it die ...) who add nearly any additional functionality a CMS might lack. Just look at form.textpattern.com - does this forum look dead or spread a sense of an ol' boy club?

More (unsorted) pros that come to my mind:

- wet is the project leader - but surely you have knowne this beforehand
- TXP does not have (any known) security holes - Wordpress needs to be updated frequently, just to secure your site
- TXP has a stable release cycle: 4.0.9 is in the pipeline, 4.0.8 was published about 4 months ago: I would not like to see more freuqent updates spending hours to check site compatibility.
- the wiki has indeed a project leader (Destry), and looks fine after some major rework (which naturally, broke some of the former content)
- people are obviously using it: new sites are added daily to welovetxp.com

Surely there is more to say about TXP, but definitely this fine piece of software does not deserve to be mentioned in this thread - just my 2 cents.

Like so: clicky.

Hmmh - thought of something less technical than browsing through the source code - but thanks anyway, will dive into this.

Thanks a lot for the update!

Would there be a changelog available listing the changes between the preceding1.3 beta and this legacy release?

Smartys is working again.

Great! Really appreciate the new drive in the (development) team. Looking forward to a new exciting release.

Beta 3 may be done after May 9, 2009.

How do you know?

Thanks Kaboon - second your post as well.

Thumbs ( and toes wink ) up for the developers' dedication to roll out a great piece of software!

Once the text is already in the reply window, "quick" formatting is possible exactly in this way.

As right now I see little need for disabling this feature in any type of boards? But then again what I think doesn't matter

In my case, it's a usability issue: running a private board with not too computer-savvy users, I continuously encounter users clicking "Report" while they actually wanted to use the adjacent "Quote" link - despite friendly reminders what each link actually does ...

I'm not saying this will make it in but wouldn't an option to simply disable reporting alltogether make more sense [...]

Yes, this option sounds fine.

Thanks a lot!

or allow hiding  "Report" link when not needed (e.g. in private forums where usually no "noise" has to be encountered)

Thanks!

Does FluxBB have a way to send mail to forum members when a new post appears?

There is an extension which is intended to serve exactly this purpose. However, it's still in an early stage and development is not actively pushed for the time being.
