To sum it up: we get a cleaned up footer, quick links that are accessible more easily and all links in sections where they make sense (once you get rid of old habits).

Go for it, having the links stay at the same place no matter where you are is a big plus.

We currently have the following links:

• profile

  • all user topics

  • all user posts

• status bar (index and search pages)

  • new posts

  • mark all forums as read

• footer (index page)

  • recent posts (default 24h)

  • unanswered posts

  • all user subscriptions

  • all user posts

I believe we should put the following links in the following three links in the status bar and leave them there consistently (on all pages, don't know why they shouldn't be): new, recent/active, unanswered topics.

The subscriptions link can go to the profile page. I will probably later add the possibility for admins (and mods?) to view a user's subscribed topics, too.

This leaves us with the "show your posts" link in the footer, which we can simply remove because it isn't needed very often (in my opinion) and is already available in the profile.

This is all very much how 1.3 handled it. I don't think that's a bad idea.

Hm, I'd actually like some feedback on where to put the links. In 1.3, the links in the status bar (new and recent posts) were much shorter (showing more information when hovering over them). Should we do it that way?

Now the link like site.name/search.php?action=show_user&user_id=N output topic subjects only.
I suggest to show posts instead of topics (as in v1.3).

It'll be good to copy functionality of v1.3 search:
- action=show_user_posts,
- action=show_user_topics
- action=show_recent with optional value parameter (default=24h)
