1.4 is contained within the trunk part of the SVN. The trunk is used for the "current" version usually. There are branches for 1.2 and 1.3-legacy so they can be worked on if required though.

If true, this is exactly what I was hoping for! I don't need any of the new features planned for 1.4, just a rock solid but still maintained (with regard to security) Pun/Flux forum. Simple old-style, minimal functionality is ok for my purposes.

So 1.4 is contained in a separate branch of the version control system? I am not at all well versed in how Trac works, but all I can see there are the 1.2 and 1.3 legacy branches. I'm still a little confused.

ridgerunner, I think once 1.4 becomes stable, 1.2 won't get updates other than security related.

Seeing how 1.4 is significantly different from 1.2, are you planning on maintaining the 1.2 branch for those of us who want to stick with the old tried and true?

Well, I think significant changes have been made. That's exactly what the version bump indicates: that new features have been added.

If your not going to make any significant changes then why bother to rename it "1.4" at all, why not just a feature release of 1.2?

That was also what I thought, It comes from 1.2 and that has been stable for ever so....

Although it's generally not advised, if it were me personally I wouldn't be too worried about running it on a live site. It's a fairly safe assumption that it hasn't been slapped together so any bugs|quirks are in all probability gong to be minor ones. Plus, it is a good way of finding any remainders.
